The new Rolls-Royce Phantom will cost the buyer 782 thousand dollars. Top 10 most expensive cars in the world. But if you look at how much millionaires give for collectable cars at auctions, then the Phantom price no longer seems so fabulous.

In this article, we have collected not models and series, but concrete copies of machines with a history that cost fabulous money.

70,000,000 $
What is special: in 1963, won first place in the past ten days, “Tour de France”.

Story

This model was produced in 1962–1964 specifically for racing. A total of 36 cars were produced, most of them are still on the move.

The name of the line comes from the volume of each of the twelve engine cylinders — 250 cubic centimetres. GTO is the abbreviation for Gran Turismo Omologato, which in Italian means “race car.”

This model won the World Manufacturer’s Championship three times — from 1962 to 1964 , and in 1962 took second and third places in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Characteristics

Engine power — 300 horsepower. Accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds, top speed — 265 km / h.

Buyer

In the summer of 2018, the American billionaire David McNeill bought a car for $ 70 million. Auto experts predict that by 2023, the instance will rise in price to one hundred million.

Story

The legendary racing car was born in June 1954. It was the first car in the development of the body which used a wind tunnel.

Already in July 1954, the car made its debut at the French Grand Prix of Formula 1 racing and beat the rivals by a whole circle. However, the car’s story ended tragically: in the summer of 1955, during the “24 Hours of Le Mans” marathon, the car flew into the crowd of spectators. Killed 80 people, about a hundred injured. After that, the management of the Daimler-Benz concern closed the motorsport program for 30 years.

Characteristics

The car was produced in three versions — with different sizes of the wheelbase. At the same time, it was possible to put a body on any model that covered the wheels. The open-wheel variant developed less speed, but was 40 kg lighter and easier to control when cornering because the pilot saw the wheels.

The car had an eight-cylinder engine with a capacity of 257 horsepower and developed a top speed of 300 km / h.

Buyer

In 2012, the Mercedes-Benz W196R, in which the Argentine pilot Juan Manuel Fangio won the Swiss Grand Prix, was sold at a Bonhams auction to an unknown collector.

Story

La Voiture Noire, or “black car”, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. The model was created specifically for the 110th anniversary of the Bugatti — the designers were inspired by the Type 57 SC Atlantic supercar, which was released back in 1934.

Characteristics

The body of La Voiture Noire is made of carbon fibre. The car filling is based on another Bugatti model — Chiron.

The car has an eight-litre engine with a capacity of 1,500 horsepower and a seven-speed gearbox. Up to a hundred, the car accelerates in two seconds. The maximum speed is 420 km / h.

Owner

The car was sold as soon as she got off the assembly line. True, the owner will be able to get it only in 2021: the manufacturer needs several years to finish the job. The buyer, who paid $ 19 million for a unique car, was Cristiano Ronaldo.

Another Ferrari-250 is famous mainly for its owners. In 1961, the model was presented at the Paris Motor Show, and immediately after its closure, the car was bought by French actor and director Gerard Blen. Three years later, he sold the sports car to his friend Alain Delon.

The car went on hand, until in 1971 another collector put it in the garage. As a result, Ferrari stood without movement for 44 years.

Characteristics

The car is equipped with an engine with a capacity of 240 horsepower, which allows you to accelerate to 100 km / h in 8 seconds. The machine has a four-speed manual gearbox and disc brakes.

Buyer

In 2015, the heirs of the collector put up a perfectly preserved car for auction. The buyer, who posted $ 18.5 million, is unknown.

5 PLACE
Rolls-royce sweptail

Story

Rolls-Royce Sweptail was first shown at the 2017 Villa d’Este Elegance Contest. This competition has been held since 1929: organizers put up retro cars — always on the go — and arrange an auction. A two-seater coupe was custom built for three years. According to the designers, they were inspired by the classic models of the 1920–1930s. The basis was the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.

Characteristics

The model has an engine capacity of 7 litres and a capacity of 460 horsepower. However, what is under the hood of this machine and how its filling is similar to the filling of a distant ancestor is unknown.

The buyer chose to stay incognito. But it is known that he gave almost 13 million dollars not to make the car stand in the garage: a few days after the show where the car was presented, she was seen on the streets of French Bordeaux.

6 PLACE
Ford Gulf GT40 / Mirage Lightweight Racing Car

Story

Henry Ford really wanted his car to win the international Le Mans 24 hour race and decided to create a special sports car for this. The industrialist succeeded: the sports car won this competition four times — from 1966 to 1969.

This is one of the two surviving Fords in the first GT40 series in the world. Specifically, this copy of the 1968 release participated in the filming of the cult film of the seventies “Le Mans” . The picture is dedicated to the famous race, and the GT40 was used as a mobile camera: for shooting the car, the roof was cut off, but then it was restored.

Characteristics

The car is equipped with an engine capacity of 4.7 liters and a capacity of 440 horsepower.

This is the first model in which body parts are made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is the same carbon. The material is twice as lighter than steel, but not inferior in strength. True, carbon is more expensive and easily scratched.

Buyer

In 2012, at an auction in Monterey, the famous Ford was sold for $ 11 million. Buyer preferred to remain anonymous.

Story

In August 2019, Bugatti turned 110 years old. In honour of the anniversary, the company introduced the Centodieci supercar — from Italian it translates as “one hundred and ten.” Designers focused on the design of the “Bugatti” line from the nineties, but they put the modern stuffing.

Characteristics

Under the hood of the car is an eight-liter engine with a capacity of 1,578 horsepower. The car accelerates to 100 km / h in 2.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is 380 km / h.

Owner

The Bugatti said that the Centodieci model will be released in only ten copies. Selling price — $ 8.9 million. All cars were bought back at the pre-order stage.

Story

The car was developed in 2005 specifically for the German tire manufacturer Fulda: the company created tires of a new design and wanted to get a supercar to demonstrate them.

“Fulda” asked to make a car of futuristic forms with aggressive proportions of the body and always in black gloss. Designers took the Maybach-7 limousine as a basis , and students of the German Polytechnic College were involved in the design. A supercar from the future was created in less than six months.

Characteristics

The car is equipped with an engine with a capacity of 700 horsepower, which accelerates the supercar to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 351 km / h , while the Fulda tires can withstand speeds of more than 370 km / h.

Owner.

“Fulda” paid for a single copy of Exceller $ 8 million. But in 2008, the American rapper Birdman wanted the same car in his collection — and ordered from Mercedes for the same 8 million.

The irony is that in 2011, Fulda sold her car at auction for only $ 5 million, although car journalists claimed that if the owners held the car for several more years, they could also have helped 10 million.

Story

The Swedish manufacturer of sports cars introduced this model in 2008. The uniqueness of the model is that the coating of carbon panels contains diamond dust. Body-colour changes in three different shades depending on the lighting. Hence the name: Tre vita in translation from Swedish — “three whites”.

Initially, the company wanted to release three copies of the CCXR Trevita. But making a diamond coating was not easy, so the manufacturer limited himself to two.

Characteristics

The car has a 4.8-litre engine with a capacity of 1000 horsepower. The sports car accelerates to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, and to 200 km / h in 8.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 410 km / h.

The car is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, which serve 5–10 times longer than usual. Shift gears need not the usual lever, but with the help of small buttons under the steering wheel. You can monitor tire pressure directly in the cabin: all information is visible on the panel.

Owner

Both hypercars acquired a boutique of luxury cars Fusion Luxury Motors. In 2015, one car was bought by boxer Floyd Mayweather — the youngest for $ 4.8 million — this is the retail price on the site. In 2017, the athlete put his car up for auction. Whether he managed to sell it is unknown.

Story

The car was created by Hollywood designer George Barris in 1966 specifically for the Batman series.

Barris made a Batmobile based on the Ford Lincoln Futura, which cost $ 250,000, but Ford sold the car to a designer for one dollar. True, the designer spent another 15 thousand to finalize the superhero car. He did all the work in two weeks.

In total, they made several copies of the Batmobile for filming, but already on the frame of other models — Ford Galaxie and Ford Thunderbird. Therefore, the first copy is considered the most valuable.

Characteristics

Lincoln Futura — a two-door four-seater coupe with a length of 5.7 meters. The main feature of the exterior is the huge plastic wings at the rear and outstanding headlights. It was this futuristic look that attracted the attention of Barris. The designer turned the car into a double convertible.

Owner

In 2013, the “Batmobile” was sold at the auction of the auction house “Barrett Jackson.” Retro car collector Rick Shampane paid $ 4.6 million for rarity.

This was a new record for the value of cars that starred in films. The “Batmobile” overtook several tens of thousands of dollars sold in 2010 Aston Martin DB5, which drove James Bond in the “Goldfinger”.
